offshore wind

In our latest advancements in the renewable energy market, within the electrical industry, IBEW Local 223 was privileged to be a part of one of the first large scale Offshore Wind Farms located off the coast of Southeastern Massachusetts, Vineyard Wind I. IBEW Local 223 with many other Local Trades Unions came together ensuring we bring the highest quality of craftsmanship to the offshore industry. This did not only entail the work offshore of building Wind Turbines from the ocean floor up, but also the substations and cable laying landside that will power these Wind Turbines. The project will bring clean and affordable energy to over 400,000 homes and businesses in local communities within Southeastern Massachusetts.

Green Building and Renewable Energy

IBEW Local 223 has set the standard in the Southeastern Massachusetts renewable energy market. We’re proud to deliver the highest quality products with the competitive edge needed to succeed. Our partnered contractors have been able to deliver their projects on time and under budget through their commitment and trust in the members of Local 223.

Local 223 members pride themselves on our training, professionalism, and safety record. Whether it is a utility-grade solar installation or wind-driven turbines, our members are familiar with all the major brands and the differences in installation procedures to ensure an efficient and effective workforce.

Local 223 recognizes the rapid changes the power generation industry is undergoing. Carbon and fission-based generation facilities are still an essential part of our utility grid and are reliable sources of power that have been tried and tested. At the same time, our union’s members are trained and ready to usher in new, lower-cost, cleaner power generation technologies to ensure an energy transition that will mean future generations have a planet full of light and hope.
