Dear retired members and spouses:
Many thanks to the members who have begun volunteering at Gifts to Give in New Bedford. They have been busy repairing toys and adding needed electrical outlets at the mill. Our members have also begun donating strollers, cribs etc. that their grandchildren no longer need. Do you have any outgrown baby items that you, too, could donate? This is a wonderful opportunity for us to make a significant difference in the lives of many needy children in southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod. For more information about this worthy organization, visit their website at http://www.giftstogive.org/newbedford_landingpage.html
In order to raise money for our club, we will be holding an indoor yard sale for members and guests at our September 8th meeting. If each of you could bring in a few things it would help the club financially and also provide some fun for the attendees. Please mark all items with a reasonable price in even dollar amounts. Did you have a bountiful garden this summer? Surplus produce would make a great donation for our yard sale tables.
We would like to begin inviting interesting guest speakers to our meetings. Please speak to any officer or executive board member if you have a suggestion for a possible topic or specific speaker. Also, we will be looking for suggestions concerning our December meeting place which is usually held at a local restaurant.
After our business meeting which will begin promptly at 10:30 A.M., a light luncheon will be served which will consist of finger rolls, chips, pickles, cold drinks and desserts. Once again, a small donation to help defray this cost would be appreciated.
Hope to see all of you with spouses and guests on September 8th at 10:30 A.M. RSVP BY AUGUST 20th (1-508-947-8555 PATTY AT THE UNION HALL) to let us know how many will be attending. If you are unable to attend the September meeting, the Secretary’s Report will be posted on the union website under the Retiree’s link and in The Electrical Worker.
Thanks,
Burt
